In between scenes of the muscleheads torturing their victim, Bay indulges his taste for treating women as sluts and grisly brutality as a nifty excuse for a cheap laugh.. The movie appeals to baser instincts, and Scott's heavy-handed button-pushing stacks the deck.. This is garbage, but it's entertaining garbage.. "Pain & Gain" brings the pain, but it's difficult to see the gain.. This movie isn't just about a kidnapping; it is a kidnapping, and we're the hostages.. It makes for some stupid/slap...
